Kindle Games List

Charles asks…

List of books available on Nook/Kindle?

I’m a student and am looking to buy either a Nook or Kindle, but I don’t know what books are available. I know there a lot to list, so is there a search function somewhere where I can look for specific books? I also happen to be a gamer, and I hate wasting so much paper on game guides. Are they available as well?

Thanks for any help!

Hi, Cody Fountain, you can get on a web site of BN.com and Amazon and search for specific books, it’ll be noted in results if books are available as a Nook or a Kindle book. There’s much greater chances to find most of the eBooks out there in ePub fromat as it’s the format the most used in the world.
In terms of Nook vs. Kindle for everything else, current e-Ink Nook Simpletouch is much better than current e-ink Kindle as Nook has the latest generation touch screen display, no page turn lag, it weights less, and its battery lasts twice as long, and it doesn’t blink on each page turn. Having that out of the way, you should then decide which screen you want: e-Ink or LCD. It depends on what you’re reading. If just black & white novels then the better one would be e-Ink Nook from Barnes & Noble. If you read electronic magazines or books with a lot of color graphs and charts or children’s’ books with a lot of pictures then the better would be Nook Color LCD from Barnes & Noble. Whichever device you choose, here’s the advantages of the Nook’s (both e-Ink black & white and Nook Color) over Kindle:
- Any Barnes & Noble store provides free Wi-Fi to Nook’s and when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store, you’re allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook allows to lend Nook books for two weeks to friends and family or share with your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.)
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
Kindle only supports eBooks in its proprietary AZW format. Nook, on the other hand, supports both DRM-protected and DRM-free ebooks in ePub format thus it supports ebooks from B&N store, from any other DRM-free source on the web, and from public libraries. You can buy Nook’s at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, P.C. Richard etc. Stores and web sites.

The Hunter Games Book 3 spoiler alert, and please dont spoil! i have a question i dont understand?

i am in chapter 3 and i dont understand this part.

I skim my list. “Gale. I’ll need him with me to do this.” “With you how? Off camera? By your side at all times? Do you want him presented as your new lover?” Coin asks. She hasn’t said this with any particular malice—quite the contrary, her words are very matter-of-fact. But my mouth still drops open in shock. “What?” “I think we should continue the current romance. A quick defection from Peeta could cause the audience to lose sympathy for her,” says Plutarch. “Especially since they think she’s pregnant with his child.” “Agreed. So, on-screen, Gale can simply be portrayed as a fellow rebel. Is that all right?” says Coin. I just stare at her. She repeats herself impatiently. “For Gale. Will that be sufficient?” “We can always work him in as your cousin,” says Fulvia. not cousins,” Gale and I say together. “Right, but we should probably keep that up for appearances’ sake on camera,” says Plutarch. “Off camera, he’s all yours. Anything else?”

I dont understand this part. Katniss needs Gale to do what with her? I have read up to this part, so please dont spoil, thanks.

They’re talking about talking in private instead of talking in front of the camera.

Help with the Christmas list?

Mom is a-naggin’ about that Christmas list, and usually I ask for the normal 17-year-old stuff, like clothes, but I’m trying to be a little more strategic this year. I’m a senior and will be starting college next fall. I wanted to ask for practical things and keep in mind what I might buy/have money to buy/will get as a graduation present (or will be purchased with graduation money.) So far, my wants consist of a

13″ Macbook pro
Nikon D3000 plus 55-200mm and 17-55mm lens
George Foreman grill
Aluminum (eco-friendly) water bottle
External battery for my iPod Touch
16 gb Memory card
Wrinkle steamer

My parents spend usually no more than $400, so of course that knocks off the camera and computer. Those are just things I want, but will have to buy with graduation/summer job money. Of course, if I buy the camera now, I can ask for the 55-200 lens for Christmas. Although I have a wonderful point-and-shoot Sony camera, I wanted the DSLR because I’m going to France next summer and want to take fabulous pictures. However, I’m worried that I won’t use it in college (I’m going into engineering, so I’m going to be swamped with homework). So I’m a little unsure about that purchase. Most of those, I’ll obviously use when I get to college, and the memory card and charger are for France (13hr flight is a lot of movies on the iPod.) I’m also using my brother’s old Swiss Army backpack and it will hold a 13″ laptop, so that’s not something to worry about. I have all of the basics (phone, iPod, camera) and I never have time to watch movies or tv or play games. I also don’t want a Kindle because I’d just rather check out books from the library than buy them.

I would ask for college gear, but I’m not sure where I’m going.

John asks…

I need to write up a gift list, but I dont really have anything I want. Help?

So my family keeps pestering me for a list of what I want for Christmas, but everything affordable is something I already have. The only things I can think of that I want are too expensive for me to justify as something to ask for.

I dont want clothes because I have too many as it is. I dont want shoes cause I barely wear shoes so I only need the shoes I have. I dont need jewelry cause I never wear it. I have too many books. I dont need movies because I have a blockbuster online account. I dont want gift cards cause I have a stack about 4″ high of all the gift cards I’ve been given over the past three years that have yet to be used. I dont want anything that could be labeled as junk cause I cant justify that; plus, my room is full, as is my portion of the family storage garage, thanks to all the stuff left over from when I didnt live at home and all the stuff I got out of my grandparent’s estate.

I also dont want an iPod (I have a classic, never use it; anything I’d use a new iPod for, I have on my blackberry already). I dont want a kindle because I hate reading screens; I much prefer real books. All the accessories I want for my DSLR are over 1000$ so I cant justify that. I dont want a purse cause I never use those. I dont want other “fashion accessories” because I find them pointless.

I have an Xbox 360, PS2, Sega and N64, but cant think of any games for those that I like that I dont already have. (For reference, I prefer roll playing games and racing games.)

Please dont suggest charities, because I’ve already listed a bunch of charities I want people to donate to (part of our tradition in my family is that you ask people to give to charities).

The only things I do want are a new computer (and even all the little components I want for it are $100+ … I’m building a computer) and the xbox kinect or PS3 (which are both over $100). So I’m not expecting to get those.

I am completely at a loss of what to ask for and everyone is saying “give us a list or you’ll have to live with whatever we decide you should want.” which is the last thing I want because I dont want to end up with anything that is just going to be thrown into some corner of my room, never to see the light of day again. Any suggestions?
